Survivor 48 Episode 2 Power Rankings

*Note: This was written before episode 3, but I forgot to publish it

Here’s my power rankings after episode two! Here are my criteria for making power rankings: it takes into account many factors, including alliances, advantages, idols, strategic resume, position in the game, and future threat to determine a player’s current “win equity.” This doesn’t mean I think the person at the top will win, nor does it mean I believe the person at the bottom will be the next person voted out. What it means is, from now to the end of the game, who is best set up to make it there AND win. Some person may have made a lot of great moves, but in a precarious position that may drop them. Another person may be very safe, but with no real winner possibility, they’re more of a goat and also may find themselves further down the list.

  1. Shauhin (+2)

  2. Kamilla (+7)

  3. Joe (-2)

  4. Thomas (-2)

  5. Kyle (+3)

  6. Cedrek (+5)

  7. Justin (-)

  8. David (-3)

  9. Chrissy (+1)

  10. Sai (+3)

  11. Mitch (+4)

On the Top

Let’s start with Kamilla. She was excellent, and she’s insulated. People like her, she’s a strong puzzle solver with a true number one in Kyle. She helped him decode the cypher by scratching the anagram in her leg. I would guess she’s the last target in the Civa majority alliance, but has a lot of upside. She’s also the only person outside of Kyle who knows about Civa’s idol. Knowledge is power. Kyle rose similarly, both for finding the idol and solidifying his tight duo with Kamilla by enlisting her help. Shauhin took the top spot because I like his position most in the California Girls. He seems to be building something with Star — who has an idol. I like how well he clocked Thomas’ villainy. And he seems incredibly well-liked by the tribe. Cedrek hitched a huge boost as well, demonstrating he straddles the majority alliance on Vula. He has the guy in Justin and the father-daughter-like bond with Sai. He’s in a strong position, despite his lurid challenge performance. Mitch grabbed a boost for his likeability, honesty about and possession of the block-a-vote, and challenge performance. David has still marked him as a “playing too hard” target, but Mitch may have some juice.

On the Bottom

Eva may have to drop the gloves with Star. Star’s discovery of the beware advantage was the worst thing to happen to Eva. She’s the only one who Eva truly doesn’t get along with and Star is gunning for her. She has Joe and that relationship, but it may not be able to save her if the other California Girls plus Bianca side with the power of the idol. Lastly, Mary takes the bottom spot. While I believe she can recover (or may be saved by a twist), she is unequivocally at the bottom. The only person outside of a three-person alliance on a disaster tribe, had her top ally blindsided round one, lost her vote, and then still got her ally blindsided round two. It’s rough for Mary. Anyone you see noticeably sprinting for an idol on the NTOS is not in a good position. Good luck, Mary.
