What I do:

This is my day job. I use my skills in research, design, and data to build brands and sell products. Currently working in the nonprofit sector for Urban Land Institute.

Marketing

This is where I have my fun. I write about sports, movies, and really whatever I want on my personal blog hosted on this site. I also help others write admissions essays. Previous sports journalist and editor with The Michigan Daily.

Writing

This is my approach to everything. In business, it means turning a profit for a student newspaper or setting EV benchmarks for Ford. In life, it means making decisions with intent and care.

Who I am:

Hi! I’m Nick — I’m a dynamic business professional whose focus is to learn, grow, and help others.

What does that actually mean? Good question. It means that although I stuck three labels on myself above, I’m not just a marketer, just a writer, just a strategist, or even just all three!

Get to know me and my portfolio of work and you’ll understand exactly what I’m describing. I have corporate experience in the tech sector, in automotive, and in real estate. I worked in sports journalism as a writer and managing editor for four years. I have teaching experience, I’ve led a multinational peace camp for children in Sweden, and I even have my own IMDb page.

I attended the University of Michigan where I studied business at the top-ranked Ross School of Business, graduating Summa Cum Laude and minoring in Real Estate Development. During my studies, I earned internships with Samsung and Ford Motor company in marketing-communications and strategy, respectively, and I was contracted as a media consultant for AMF Media Group.

I decided to take what I learned through all these experiences and apply it to a cause I’m passionate about, which led to me joining a nonprofit called Urban Land Institute where I currently work as a Marketing Associate in Washington, DC.

I enjoy pushing myself from one challenge to the next — both professionally and personally — to learn as much as I can and apply my knowledge in new and creative ways. This website and its contents is just one part of that. Please enjoy my portfolios, personal blog, business projects, and everything else I have linked on my site. I hope it can give you a glimpse into my work, my life, and my journey to this point.

For any business or personal inquiries, please email me at nicholaskstoll@gmail.com. I am always happy to make new connections. Thanks for visiting the site — I hope you have a great day today!

What I offer:

Below are the services and freelance work I offer through this site. For other professional or business inquiries not included below, please reach out via email at nicholaskstoll@gmail.com.

Admissions essays are difficult, and telling not only your story, but the right story to get you into the college or program you’re aiming for is incredibly important. I’ve helped students get into top schools like Michigan, Texas, and Purdue Engineering, and helped students transfer into programs with less than 10% transfer acceptance rates.

Additionally, most essay coaches are going to be expensive ($$$!), but I believe all students deserve help getting into their dream school. I attended a low-income public high school, and the kids I went to class with were intelligent, hard-working, and deserving — just like you. For that reason, payment is not expected for any of my essay coaching services.
